EARLY LIFE AND BACKGROUND
Gyakie, whose full name is Jacqueline Acheampong, was born on December 16, 1998, in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Music was in her blood, as she hails from a musical family. Her father, Ernest Owaahene Nana Acheampong, was a renowned Highlife musician in Ghana during the 1990s, while her mother, Mama Acheampong, was a singer as well. Growing up in such a musical environment undoubtedly played a significant role in shaping Gyakie's passion for music.
Gyakie had her senior secondary school education at the T.I Ahmadiyya senior High school, Kumasi and Studied and graduated with a major in International Business from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
MUSIC CAREER
Gyakie's musical journey officially began when she enrolled in Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to study International Business. It was during her university years that she started exploring her talent and honing her skills. Gyakie's early influences included artists like Asa, R2Bees and Wizkid, whose music inspired her to pursue a career in the industry.
In 2019, Gyakie released her debut single, "Love Is Pretty," and "Never Like This" which garnered attention locally and marked the beginning of her career. However, it was her 2020 hit single, "Forever," from her debut EP titled "Seed", that catapulted her to stardom. "Forever" became an anthem across Africa and beyond, with its catchy melody and heartfelt lyrics resonating with fans worldwide.
The song's success led to international recognition and opportunities, including a remix with Nigerian Singer, Omah Lay In 2021 and Flip the Music's signing of Gyakie, making her the label's first female artist.
