CKAY BIOGRAPHY
EARLY LIFE
He was born on the 16th of July, 1975, in Kaduna state, Northen Nigeria. He hails from Anambara state, Eastern Nigeria. Ckay learned the Piano from his father and was fond of musical instrument at a young age (No wonder he became a producer too). Not much info is known about his education. MUSIC CAREER
According to info, Ckay fell in love with music at a tender age of Seven. His inspiration and passion was gotten from his father who was a choir coordinator in a local church. According to Ckay, His father and other family relatives, gave him full support and he started writing and producing music at age 13.
In 2014, Ckay relocated to Lagos City, Nigeria from Anambara state, Nigeria, to pursue his music dreams. He began working with Chocolate City in 2015 as one of their production intern/staff. In August 2016, Ckay got officially signed to Chocolate City records as a recording artiste under the label. His first single under the label was titled Nkechi Turn Up and it was released in 2016.
However, Ckay became popular and gained wide audience after releasing his hit song, Love Nwantiti (written by Ghanaian Singer, Kwami Eugene). The song was released in 2019 under Chocolate City, on March 29, 2022, the song became the first African song to surpass 1 billion streams on spotify and has since been deemed "The biggest hit in African history". The song was remixed many times both by Ckay and other international artistes.
Ckay released a couple of other songs such as Felony, Emiliana and others. He also featured in songs like Davido's la la and Aura Starr's Beggie Beggie. He has worked with the likes of M.I, Dremo, Davido, Dice Ailes, Coker, Blaqbonez, Barry Jhay, Ice Prince, Of Course Joeboy, Kwami Eugene and more.
